Spinach Poriyal

My husband never likes Keerai other than Murugai keeria (ofcourse others dont like it)..

But any how i made up my mind to cook for him something tasty to make him eat Spinach.

Herez the good version of Keerai Poriyal

Ingredients
Baby Spinach - 1 pack (available in Indian Grocery Store)
Onion - 1 small (chopped)
Redchilli - 2 (as per taste)
Rasam Powder - 1 1/2 tbsp
mustard - 1/2 tsp
urad dhal - 1/2 tsp
coconut - 2 tsp (optional)
oil - 2 tsp
Moong dal - 4 tbsp
asafoetida - 1 pinch
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - as per taste

Preparation Method
1. Wash spinach and drain the water compeletely. (Make sure no water is there, i use colandra to drain excess water and keep as it is till ready to use)
2. Microwave or pressure cook moong dal and it should be firm and cooked. Dont over cook, then that will end up like spinach sambar rather than poriyal ;) .
2. Place the pan in the stove and add oil and add mustard. Once it popped, add urad dal, asafoetida and red chilli
3. Now add onions and fry till translucent, now add the spinach
4. Close the lid and cook it for 5 mins or till the spinach is cooked, sprinkle water if required
5. Now add the moong dal, salt, turmeric powder, rasam powder and cook again for some more minutes
6. Optionally you can add grated coconut

Your Keerai Poriyal is ready to serve with sambar rice
